# Getting Started with Målbar LCA: Access and Workflow

> Learn how to access Målbar LCA, add colleagues to your account, and follow the four-step workflow to complete your first product climate screening.

Målbar LCA is a web-based tool for calculating product climate footprints and running Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) screenings. Unlike spreadsheet-based approaches, the Webtool stores all your supply chain data — locations, transport routes, and country shares — in one place, so every screening you create reflects your actual operational setup. This page walks you through access, account management, and the core workflow you'll follow for every product.

## Access and account setup

Your login credentials are provided directly by the Målbar team. Once you receive them, go to the Målbar LCA Webtool and sign in.

<Note>
  If you need to give a colleague access to your account, email [helpdesk@maalbar.dk](mailto:helpdesk@maalbar.dk) and the team will set up a login for them.
</Note>

## Core workflow

The four modules below must be set up in order. Screenings draw on the data in Locations, Routes, and Country Shares, so completing the earlier steps first ensures your calculations are accurate from the start.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create Locations">
    Add every physical location relevant to your product flows: supplier and sub-supplier sites, warehouses, and sales channels. Your supply chain department is a good source for this data.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create Routes">
    Define the transport legs between your known locations — specifying the transport type, method, and distance for each leg. Use [Ecotransit](https://www.ecotransit.org/en/emissioncalculator/) to look up distances and transport combinations. You only need to create routes where both the departure and arrival locations are already in the system.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create Country Shares">
    Assign the correct sales-country weighting to your combinations of locations and routes. Country shares drive the logistics, use-phase, and disposal calculations across all your screenings, so this step is required before running a screening.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create Screenings">
    Run a product climate screening. Each screening pulls in the locations, routes, and country shares you've already configured, so you enter supply-chain data once and reuse it across every product.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Complete PDF guide

For a full step-by-step walkthrough of every module, download the [Complete Målbar LCA PDF Guide](https://www.maalbar.dk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Complete-Webtool-PDF-Guide-.pdf). This is the single reference document that covers the entire tool from login to interpreting results.

## Migrating from the Excel tool

If you previously used the Målbar Excel tool, your existing screenings can be imported into the Webtool. The migration process requires you to create your locations in the Webtool first and then coordinate with Målbar to match and upload your Excel files.

<Tip>
  Contact [helpdesk@maalbar.dk](mailto:helpdesk@maalbar.dk) to start the migration process. Once your screenings are in the Webtool, the Excel tool will no longer be supported.
</Tip>

## Monthly webinars

Målbar runs a series of monthly webinars to help you work more confidently with the tool. Sessions cover practical topics — from your first screening to supplier collaboration and advanced features. See the [Support page](/getting-started/support) for the current schedule and registration links.
