# Materials

Materials define the physical components of your product and where they are produced. Follow the steps below to add them correctly.

  <Step title="Click 'Add material'">
    In your screening, click **Add material** to add a new material entry.

  <Step title="Enter a label name">
    Search for the material type (e.g. "Steel screws/bolts") and type a recognisable label name for the material.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the weight">
    Type the weight of the material.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the production location">
    Select the location where the material is produced — for example, "Location of steel production".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the manufacturing location">
    Choose the location of manufacturing. You can select either your supplier locations or geographical locations.

    <Note>
      Remember to fill in your production waste for the incoming material you receive from your supplier.
    </Note>

  <Step title="Save your material">
    Click **Update material** to save.
