# How to Complete a Screening

> A step-by-step walkthrough of the full screening workflow in Målbar LCA — from creating a screening to viewing your results.

This guide walks you through the complete workflow for creating and completing a product climate screening in Målbar LCA. Follow the steps in order for the best results.

  <Step title="Create a new screening">
    From the Screenings overview, click **+ Create screening**, enter a name for your product, and press **Create screening** to confirm.

  <Step title="Fill in Base Data">
    Click the pen icon next to your screening to open the Base Data editor. Fill in:

    * SKU and EAN numbers
    * Total weight including packaging
    * Product category
    * Claims and logistics replacement rates
    * A product photo
    * Supplier location (manufacturing country)

    Click **Update base data** to save.

    <Tip>
      The category choice is critical for accuracy — it determines which use phase and disposal calculations are applied. Choose the most specific subcategory available.

  <Step title="Add materials">
    Open the **Materials** tab and add all materials that make up your product. For each material, select the material type and enter the weight in grams.

    <Note>
      Use '.' as the decimal separator everywhere in the tool. Never use thousand separators.

  <Step title="Add components (if applicable)">
    If your product is made up of sub-products that have already been screened, open the **Components** tab and add them. Each component pulls in its own climate footprint data automatically.

  <Step title="Add packaging">
    Open the **Packaging** tab and add all packaging materials — primary packaging, secondary packaging, and masterbox if applicable.

  <Step title="Assign routes">
    Open the **Routes** tab and assign the transport routes that apply to this product — from supplier to warehouse, and warehouse to sales location.

      Make sure your routes are set up under the Routes section before you get to this step. See the [Routes guide](/guides/routes) for help.

  <Step title="Review and view results">
    Once all data is entered, click **View Results** to see the full climate footprint breakdown across all life cycle stages:

    * Materials
    * Manufacturing
    * Distribution
    * Use phase
    * End of life
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit for verification (optional)">
    If you want your screening third-party verified, click the three dots next to your screening and select **Submit for verification**. See the [Verification guide](/guides/verification) for more details.

<Note>
  You don't have to complete all steps at once. Målbar LCA saves your progress automatically. You can return to a screening at any time to add or update data.
