# Material bank: Find the right material and process

> Reference of all active materials and processes in Målbar LCA - use it to find the correct material or process and its category before you create or correct a screening.

This section is a reference of the materials and processes that exist as active items in Målbar LCA. The purpose is to make it quick to look up which material or process you should choose - without having to ask a colleague every time.

  The content here is a snapshot of the active items in the system (355
  materials and processes, split between **Material** and **Packaging**). If you
  create new items or change categories in Målbar LCA, remember to update this
  section so it stays reliable.

## How to use the material bank

Each table shows:

| Column                           | Meaning                                                                                                           |
| -------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Display name**                 | The short name for the item, as it is normally shown to the user in Målbar LCA.                                   |
| **Photo (file name in Dropbox)** | Only on some of the wood board tables - the exact file name of the item's photo in the [Dropbox folder](#photos). |

Items are grouped under the category they actually have in Målbar LCA - so if you know the category (e.g. "Stainless steel" or "Sheet surface treatments"), you can search for it directly.

## Photos

You have a large folder of your own material photos in Dropbox: [Stock photos by Målbar / Materials](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/b0b005adkp1ey95r2iua7/ADCPkdIFjv85ZExG-Yizits?rlkey=a14jctvu7mzhoqv86f7rmyuja\&st=uzbrh111\&dl=0). Many of the files are named after the pattern `Category - Subcategory - Display name.jpg`, so where possible the tables reference the exact file name in a **Photo** column - search (Ctrl/Cmd+F) for the file name inside the Dropbox folder to find and open the photo.

<Note>
  The photos are not (yet) embedded directly on these pages - only referenced by
  file name. This is partly because Mintlify cannot run custom scripts/uploads
  through this admin access, and partly because we have deliberately avoided
  generating hundreds of individual shared Dropbox links to keep the workload
  down. The Photo column is so far only filled in for the wood board categories
  as a pilot - the remaining categories are still missing.

## The visual search tool

There is also an interactive, searchable HTML overview of the same data (with filtering by type and free-text search), built for quick visual browsing. That tool cannot run directly inside Målbar Academy (Mintlify does not allow standalone JavaScript on individual pages), so it works best as a local file you open in your browser, or placed somewhere you share files (e.g. SharePoint/Teams). Contact Allan if you need the file.

## Decision rules are not included yet

**Important:** this material bank tells you the *correct name and category* for a material - it does not (yet) tell you *why you should choose one over another* when several look similar (e.g. which surface treatment is most accurate for a given product). We will build in those rules of thumb over time as questions come up. If you are facing a choice that is hard to settle from the tables alone, still ask Leonor, Pablo, Morten or Anders - and please let Allan know, so the answer can be included here next time.
