Two new ‘Screening types’: Masterbox and packaging components

Packaging is often more repetitive than it needs to be — especially when the same setups are recreated across multiple product screenings. With this update, you can now create Packaging and Masterbox components once, and reuse them where it makes sense.Packaging ComponentA Packaging Component represents the materials used for the individual product’s packaging, such as primary and secondary packaging (e.g. boxes, bags, wrapping, or protective elements). By creating Packaging Components, you can reuse the same packaging setup across multiple products, avoiding repetitive work and ensuring consistency in your LCA modelling.Once created, these components are available under ‘Packaging’ when you press ‘add packaging’ in your product screening.Masterbox ComponentA Master Box Component represents the outer packaging often used to group multiple product units for transport and distribution. By defining Master Box Components once, you can apply the same Master Box setup across many products instead of rebuilding it on each screening. You will find these components under ‘Packaging’ when you press ‘add masterbox’ in your product screening.

Improved material selection in screenings

When adding a material to a screening, you will now see material variants directly in the dropdown. This means you can select the specific material immediately, without navigating through broader categories and additional steps. When typing (e.g. cotton), the dropdown now provides:
  • A structured overview of all relevant material variants
  • Clear visibility of how each variant is categorised

View-only access to verified screenings

We have introduced view-only access for verified screening data and components in Målbar LCA. Users with read-only permissions can now open and inspect base data and components without any risk of accidentally editing or overwriting information. What this means in practice
  • Safe insight into screening data
  • No unintended edits
  • Clear visual indicators when data cannot be changed
  • A visible ‘View’ button and icon to make permissions transparent

Duplicate Country Shares & improved interface

You can now duplicate existing Country Shares directly from the overview page. Simply click the ”…” menu next to a Country Share to create a copy — all settings and distribution data are carried over automatically.Duplicates are always created as drafts, ensuring no changes are applied to your product screenings until you are finished. We have also refined the entire ‘Country Shares’ interface and introduced clearer governance around Default Country Shares. When saving a new Default Country Share, you will be asked whether the changes should:
  • Replace the Default Country Share across all screenings where it is applied, or
  • Apply only to new screenings going forward

Two ways to export CSVs in Målbar LCA

Målbar LCA now gives you two different CSV export options, depending on whether you need a high-level overview or detailed screening data.
  • Overview CSV – across all screenings: A high-level snapshot designed for quick overviews and prioritisation
  • Detailed CSV – within a single screening: A detailed breakdown of everything included in that screening
Together, the two exports give you flexibility: one for overview and control, one for detail and documentation.Download CSV

Tag your way to better overview

We have added a Tagging system — a simple, visual way to stay organised and aligned in your screenings. It helps your team see progress, responsibilities, and collections instantly. Tags are 100% internal and will not appear in reports or exports. We have added 8 colours to make your tagging structure clear and consistent. Our suggestion for dimensions:
  • Progress
  • Collection
  • Designer / Product family
  • Screening level
  • Category
  • Responsible
  • Customer
A few simple principles make all the difference:
  • One colour = one dimension
  • Always name tags with a dimension and a label (e.g. Progress: Ongoing, Progress: Completed)
  • Use only the tags that truly help — keep it simple
Screening tagsScreening tags 8 colours
Once you’ve aligned internally on your tagging structure, use Bulk edit to quickly review and tag all your existing screenings in one place.

Dataset updates

New data update cycle

As part of our update cycle, we review and update the background data and datasets in Målbar LCA twice a year, following the cycle of updates from main dataset sources like EcoInvent — in ultimo December and ultimo June. This ensures we balance integration of the newest available data with stability of calculations for long-term decision-making.
Should new legislation require adjustments to the underlying data in Målbar LCA, these changes will be implemented at the time they come into effect. Otherwise, the next scheduled update will take place in ultimo June 2026.
Dataset updates included in this release:
